The picture to the left is my friend, Sonya and I at the Green Turtle in Laurel, Maryland in November 1999. (I would be the one in black) Anyway, I'm also the only child of an engineer and a housewife. My parents are the greatest people in the world. I currently work for a contractor at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland working on safety and reliability. I have been a volunteer with the Fire Department since I was 16. First in St. Mary's County, Maryland with the Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and then with the College Park Volunteer Fire Department where I was a live-in member and once held the title of Assistant Emergency Medical Coordinator.

My parents and I have always been "cat people". However, with me at school and my dad having to travel for work, my mother was looking for a better companion than my russian short-haired blue, Cuddles, that hides from strangers and her black persian, Fuzzy, that just sits on them. So, for Christmas, we rescued this little girl from the pound. This is her at about 8 weeks old. Her name is Halligan and she is quite the character. She's a great companion and dad eventually forgave us for bringing home a dog. Since then they've been adopted by a tabby cat named Tabbitha. Their house is quite the cozy place with 3 cats and a dog to keep them on their toes. Only Tabbitha ~really~ puts up well with the dog...the other two do a lot of hissing and hiding. However, I think she's starting to grow on them too. Up here at school my roomate and I have 2 labrador retrievers to keep us busy. We have a black female named Maggie and a yellow male named Aspen. I don't have a picture of Maggie available, but below are pictures of Apsen and Halligan all grown up.
