03/01/2001: Well, it' s now official, I am no longer an employee of Hernandez Engineering. The new contractor took over today and I have been hired by them as a part-time fixed employee. Basically, I work for at least 20 hours a week and I still get all the company benefits with the exception of tuition reimbursement (but I already get that through the fire department and the Maryland State Scholarship Admin. so no big deal really). I'm saving mom and dad a ton of money because now work pays for full medical including vision and dental, life insurance, and 401K with a percentage of my funds contributed matched by the company. Not bad for a girl only working part time and without a degree in her hands yet. Plus, I was moved out of the reliability sector back into safety. My new project will be the Hitchhiker. I won't bore you with all the details of it, but I'm pretty excited. I even get a new office...one much nicer than the one I'm in now. I'll email everyone my new extension at work when I get all moved in (they phone isn't hooked up yet). As for health issues, I go back to the doctor on Wednesday the 7th. I went about 2 weeks ago but they couldn't perform the test that they were supposed to. The good news is that it looks like there are no new growths so as long as my test comes back negative, I get to move up from going back every 3 months to every 6 months. That's it for now, check back often for updates.
